eCLIQ simplifies and unifies access management for a French town
Challenge
On the Côtes d'Armor in Brittany, Saint Jacut de la Mer faced difficulties managing access to its municipal buildings. Budgets were put under pressure due to key loss and rekeying costs. Staff had to track and hold multiple keys, which further contributed to key loss. Additionally, security levels were not consistent across properties because of different access solutions installed over the years.
A new director of technical services introduced a new approach to access control.

Solution
Buildings around the town are now equipped with eCLIQ electronic locking cylinders after extensive research and a hands-on demonstration by a local hardware supplier. The first properties to enjoy the benefits and convenience of secure access management with a single eCLIQ system are the Town Hall, Festival Hall, the school restaurant, meeting house and more.
Since the status of all eCLIQ-equipped premises are instantly visible, individually tailored access rights can be easily issued by the administrator of the eCLIQ system. This way, each user can unlock all the openings they need for the day-to-day work with one programmable eCLIQ key.
As an example of the flexibility offered by the eCLIQ system, canteen staff, cleaners and delivery teams have been granted their own access slots for the school restaurant. The local campsite is now safer since access rights can be immediately revoked in case of key loss by seasonal workers. Town Hall can only be accessed by authorized staff. Consequently, the quality of life for all town residents has improved.
“We trust ASSA ABLOY,” adds M. Bertho, who was also impressed by the simplicity and speed of installation. It has already been decided by the town to extend its coverage to new buildings every year. Next up are the elementary school (9 doors) and cultural center (5 openings). Ultimately, Saint Jacut is seeking to equip all its public buildings with eCLIQ.
