Mul-T-Lock is the security partner of choice for a world leader in girls’ boarding schools. Designing a bespoke MTL400 master key system to seamlessly blend with the site’s mix of historic and modern-day buildings and provide peace of mind for all who attend.
The school, founded in the 19th Century today has a capacity of 650 girls, and covers a 69-hectare campus, incorporating several Grade II* listed buildings. It is an educational institution that is consistently ranked as one of the top all-girls schools in academic results.
Working closely with Mul-T-Lock and its network locksmith partner, Brinnick Locksmiths and Security, a bespoke master key suite was designed and introduced.
Using Mul-T-lock’s patented MTL400 high-security platform, the aim was to provide enhanced protection and reduce the number of keys required to negotiate access to each of the buildings into one.
Says Nick Williams, Brinnick Locksmiths and Security: “The high-profile nature of the school and its pupils called for a comprehensive security risk assessment of the complete site. We worked closely with Mul-T-Lock to understand the intricacies of each building and designed a bespoke solution to ensure a secure learning environment.
“The benefit of the MTL400 master key approach is that there is no compromise to any of the historical architecture making up the school, or the modern-day buildings. All keys can be coordinated to provide the functionality required and maintain control of who has access at any time. The school's commitment to security upholds its reputation as a trusted institution dedicated to excellence in education.”
The MTL400 master key suite has been installed as a scalable solution with an aim to bring all school buildings into one system. In total, this will be six buildings including dormitories.
Jacques Vermeulen, Mul-T-Lock Regional Sales Manager East added: “Security and safety in any school is a highly emotive subject. One that is never far from the conscience of those involved in the implementation of an effective school site strategy. Here, this was absolutely critical with pupils and notable staff alongside world-class facilities to protect.
“We worked in partnership with Brinnick’s to build a master key system that could introduce significant physical benefits to the premises, increase efficiencies and update access control. It really shows how being involved from the early risk assessment stage can make a significant difference in the outcome. It also allows for the historical significance of the school whilst keeping it safe and secure for many more years to come.”
